How many times have we said these words? How often have we delayed joy in hopes that once we have achieved some sort of perfect idealisation, we will find happiness, love, peace etc?
When we hold ourselves in the gestation of that sense of calm joy and tranquillity born out of this moment of stillness and reverent silence experienced within a Tea Ceremony, we can begin to get out of our own way and allow all that the Universe desires to flow to us, to flow through us. Here we have lowered our resistance. We have released control. We have surrendered and let go of our stubborn ways, ways that the mind had made us believe that is us.
How does Tea do that? Therein lies the mystery. My role is to hold space for you so that you could open up your heart and silence the ego. This space is safe － like so many of the ancient emperors, samurais, Taoist sages and Zen monks who had sat in reverence with Tea before us, this Tea space has no judgement, no identity, no ego. We shed the scales of social conditioning here and it doesn't matter how long we have had our spiritual awakening. We all sit together and no longer hear the voice that beats us up. We begin to see our truest self － the self who deserves a good life. In Dao, a good life steeps deep in the essence of simplicity, of surrender to the flow of the Universe, the rhythm of Nature. This is the good feeling place we can all arrive with Tea. Every time we come to sit in ceremony, different experiences come through, but always, we are delivered. We can trust. We can truly be ourselves. We can know we are delivered through the unknown.
