Not quite the typical grand master quote, but bear with me as I was inspired by this saying I overheard in Aquaman (yes you read that right).
Water.
What seems like the weakest element is also the strongest.
☯️ In the five elements of traditional Chinese medicine, Water holds the emotions of depression and lightness of being.
I used to feel an immense, tidal wave of suicidal depression come over me whenever I sit mesmerised by the waves of the sea. 🌊
Deep under water, as a child, I fantasised that I was a mermaid, and I would dive deeper and deeper so that I could reach the floor and sit there with my legs in a lotus. 🧜♀️
In Water I soared and spun, my eyes wide open to the blue vision before me.
Water holds the key to my expansion and fluidity now. Every river flows downstream, but nary a river ever flows straight. When I fully accept the twists and turns I also fully come into harmony with Nature. The Dao wrought around words we try to place into space is like still waters.
Stay afloat, they say. Keep on swimming, they say. 🏊
But what if you just put your head underwater anyway and breaaaathe?
When underwater, you learn to swim in the deep ends where you can no longer feel the floor with your toes.
When you still your unbearable mind-made instinctual fear and go all into the water you cannot help but adapt to the cold and pressure.
When still waters speak, your heart illuminates the path all the way. You learn to see in the dark. Your lungs learn to breathe underwater.
You become a master of all when you master all elements. And true mastery is born out of love, respect and reverence for each element as one of us, never separate.
