🍃〰️ Why I decided to keep things simple ·
When I first came to the idea of putting this circle of Poetry, Presence and Connection together in the spirit of Cha Dao, I was very eager to put together a starter kit with everything in it.
I took pause and let the idea sit because something just didn't feel quite just right yet to launch.
And then it came to me: Tea always comes to us, and that includes teaware too.
We all experience Tea in vastly different ways. I have had the honour and pleasure to hold space for over 100 beautiful beings now since February, and though I have not walked the Way for long compared to so many of my compatriots in Cha Dao, I definitely know in my heart that I would never want to taint one's encounter and experience with Tea. Tea Spirit lives within us once we let Her in, and that transmission is yours and yours only, never another one's. This is the fluidity of the Dao. Like an ensho it never ends and it is never quite perfect, but it is the flow that we understand is natural · 自然 · that happens when we step out of our own way. This is the · wu wei 無為· state of mind that is one of the main Daoist ideologies.
No prior Tea ceremony experience is required. Whether you come with a bowl, a mug or a cup with a saucer or not, Tea Spirit will meet you with all the grace and wisdom She embodies in each leaf.
