TEA, THE GREAT CONNECTOR

For centuries, Tea has inspired poetry and art, conversations, and wartime tenacity and courage. Tea has brought friends and enemies together. Tea has human-friendly qualities that allows Her spirit to meld into us and take us gently by the hand to transcendence so effortlessly. In other words, unlike many plant medicine that demands of us to enter their kingdom in order to benefit from their powers, Tea Spirit enters our world in manifold ways when we sit in ceremony and reverence silence with Her, moulded to what we intrinsically need for our own healing process. The Chinese character of Tea itself is an enmeshment of nature and humans, and even in the word Community, we hear Tea resounding through the very voice of harmony, love, and connection.

CONNECT WITH YOURSELF

Tea possesses an inner quietude that allows us to turn inward and steep in Tea Spirit's stillness. We come into our own presence and begin the process of opening up our own hearts and the inner wisdom that is within us. In the presence of tranquillity you can begin to ground your body and transcend the mind at the same time, a truly unique essence that Tea as plant medicine can bring to us.

CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER

There is a saying "Ichi Go Ichie" (One chance, one encounter) that really sums up what every Tea Ceremony is all about. We share Tea with people who have chanced upon this occasion to sit together, and with this gratiitude for this chance encounter, we cherish the moment as a miracle and a gift, a time to weave this beautiful mandala of love with each other, as well as all the beings you hold within your heart, and the ancestors before us who have sat  and drank Tea in ceremony.

CONNECT WITH THE COSMOS

There is the history of our lands, the raindrops, the snowdrops from the mountains on which the ancient trees flourish, and the sunlight, moonlight and starlight within the veins of these Tea leaves. We must not forget that it takes these human hands to complete the alchemy of Tea, a reminder that takes us back to our core essence, that which is at one with nature and love.

Tea Ceremony

Tea is used in Cha Dao for Her innate quietude, her capability to calm and sharpen the mind at the same time, and her gentle ways of opening the heart through communion and reconnection with Nature. There is a saying in Cha Dao that as we pour Tea, we become the Tea. The Dao is the "flow" of the Universe, and to become at one with the Dao is at the very core of manifestation - for when we get out of our own way, so too will the Universe get to work without resistance that is so often imposed by our very own fear and inhibitions.
